SOUND UNSEEN CODE OF CONDUCT

This includes SU staff, patrons, visiting filmmakers & guests, and anyone else who participates in the Sound Unseen Film + Music Festival

As a film & music community participant we agree to the following:

  1. To NOT act or speak in a discriminatory manner, or use racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or xenophobic language. Any discriminatory action or speech will result in immediate dismissal from the event.

  2. To NOT touch audience members or artists unless consent is expressly given. This includes hugging, groping, kissing, and any other intimate acts. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the event.

  3. To NOT enter the backstage area or other designated staff/filmmaker areas unless you have a pass or are accompanied by a filmmaker at this event.

Any form of abuse, sexual assault, harassment, or violence directed at anyone’s identity by anyone on staff, performing, or patronizing this venue will be grounds for immediate dismissal and possible further survivor-centered reparation.

If something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable, no matter how minor it seems, you can speak to any member of the Sound Unseen staff and they will support you with appropriate on-site or third party resources.

RECOGNITION OF INTERSECTIONALITY

It is imperative to note that people who are subjugated to harassment for the following aspects of one's identity are more likely to be targeted for sexual violence as well: race, color, national origin, gender identity, gender presentation, sexual orientation, age, body size, disability, appearance, religion, citizenship, and pregnancy, among other aspects. People who are marginalized in all spheres of life are also more likely to be sexually violated.

CONSEQUENCES/ REPARATIONS

Any form of abuse, sexual assault, harassment, or any violence directed at anyone’s identity will be reason for immediate dismissal and possible banning from any and all future Sound Unseen events.
